A few weeks ago I shared a few photos of the Robyn family that is currently living on our deck. I wanted to show you an update on their progress. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. I took a few videos and posted them to my instagram.
This weekend, I spent a little time working on my Moccasin Quilt BOM project. For those who aren’t into the quilting world, BOM simply means- Block of the Month. You basically make an entire quilt top throughout the span of the year. Each month, I get a new pattern with the fabrics to go along with the instructions shipped right from Pink Castle Fabrics.
I started the Moccasin BOM by Gen X Quilters in January and have been enjoying the monthly blocks. I think that this months, may be my favorite so far.
It has been super rainy and chilly over the past few weeks here in northern Utah. So you can understand my excitement when it finally stopped late last week. Mr. B. and had some free time together this weekend and were itching to get outside.
Utah is such an outside oriented state, in my opinion indoor activities are not nearly as wonderful as the nature that is right outside of our door. On both Saturday and Sunday we did a little hiking. We decided that the benefit of all the recent rain is that the waterfalls in the area would be flowing! So we packed our backpacks and headed outside.
Saturday’s hike wasn’t very far, just a few miles but the hike was really steep. We gained over 1,000 feet in elevation in like two miles. We had to stop quite a few times to catch our breath but the waterfall at the top of the mountain was wonderful!
Sunday was a little more car hiking. We are getting to know the area still and took a drive to see different trail heads and where things are located. On our travels, we happened to find another short waterfall hike. This one wasn’t quite as grand as Saturday’s but it was still beautiful.
Also this weekend, I put out a hummingbird feeder that I purchased a few weeks ago and we discovered that momma Robyn has four eggs in her nest, right outside of our door. She pretty much hates me because I stalk her nest on a daily basis. The hummingbird feeder is a hit, we’re loaded with hummers! I’ll have to get a few good pictures of the hummers this week and share them next week with you.
Hmm- that was a good six month break from the blog world. Today, i’m dusting off the cobwebs.
Technically, today would be my three year blogiversary. I kind of feel like a fraud celebrating since I’ve been neglecting my little corner of the internet. It’s eye opening to look back at those early posts and to see how much life has changed and how much I’ve grown since then.
I look back and think.. wow I don’t where that girl went because she doesn’t really hang around here anymore, at least in the same capacity. Which is good, because that girl was really sad and I am so lucky to be the opposite of sad.
In fact, because I’ve changed so much, I was really contemplating changing the name of this blog. Copper lives with my parents and the initial purpose of my blog was more about me talking through my grief than sharing sewing projects and scenic pictures. It just doesn’t feel right, ya know! It’s like i’m wearing three year old shoes that also happen to be archaic.
Anyway… i’m back today. Can’t make any guarantees for how long but I hope to stick around and update you often.
